The delegation of the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission of Armenia, headed by Commissioner Tigran Markosyan, visited Poland in the framework of the Polish aid project
“Development of Effective Consumer and Competition Protection Enforcement Mechanisms in Armenia.” The visit aimed to examine various issues related to the enforcement of consumer protection legislation.
The Commission’s representatives held meetings at the UOKiK central office, in branch offices in Poznań and Gdańsk, and with Trade Inspection authorities.
“We started working together several years ago, and though back then it was hard to imagine, today, following Poland’s example, Armenia’s competition authority is also the central body protecting consumers’ interests. The law is adopted, the necessary subordinate regulations have been developed and enacted, and in just two months we have already initiated around fifty proceedings,” said CCPC member Tigran Markosyan during a meeting with UOKiK Vice President Daniel Mankowski.
Polish colleagues shared their experience in using digital tools to investigate unfair practices and consumer rights violations on digital platforms ; price indication, including the regulation of discounts; cooperation with NGOs; communications strategies; and other related issues. An expert mission from UOKiK is also scheduled to visit Yerevan in October.
